KDKA Interviews Regenexx Docs and Successful Knee Patient Connected with the NHL, NFL and MLB
KDKA news-radio sat down with Board Certified Physicians, Dr. Marc Adelsheimer and Dr. Paul Lieber to cover what sets Regenexx apart from “so-called stem cell therapy clinics”, and to hear exactly what patients can expect during and after a procedure, and to learn from recent patient, Teo Balbach, who is very connected to professional sports, and who “got his life back” after his knee procedure with Regenexx.
Patient Teo Balbach: From Debilitating Pain to a Knee That Feels 10 Years Younger
A successful Harvard grad with 25 years of experience in the software, media, and finance realms, Teo is the CEO of CoachMePlus, a web-based software used by teams in the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NCAA to design, manage, track, and report the training efforts of athletes.
A former collegiate athlete himself, Teo ran into knee pain early in life, opting for ACL reconstruction back in 1995. About 10 years ago, his knee began to fail him with pain slowly getting worse and worse each year. Traveling for work became difficult with his knee swelling up during long flights. Sleep was rarely doable without waking up to get an ice pack in the middle of the night. It got so bad that Teo found himself considering total knee replacement a couple years ago at the mere age of 50.
As Radio host Rob Pratte explains, “Teo, you work with the NHL, NFL, MLB so you probably know some inside things about joint pain options. How did you find Regenexx Pittsburgh and how did they help you?”
A native of Buffalo, New York, Teo heard about non-surgical regenerative procedures, and researched everywhere about where to find this type of treatment. He wanted the best of the best doctors for this kind of procedure and was ready to travel across the world to get treatment for his knee. You can imagine his surprise and relief when he was able to make a short drive to Pittsburgh and into the office of Dr. Lieber. As Teo says, “You must realize that some of the best doctors in the world are right here in Pittsburgh.”

About Teo’s Procedure with Dr. Lieber
Dr. Leiber’s assessment found a knee riddled with many problematic ligaments and arthritis, but felt confident that Regenexx could help. Using bone marrow concentrate containing Teo’s own live stem cells, Dr. Leiber tightened the troublesome ligaments and surface of the knee under x-ray and ultrasound guidance. With minimal discomfort, Teo walked out the same day not fully knowing yet that his life was about to change forever.
About one month later, Teo’s knee was feeling better and he was back to a quality of life he hadn’t known in years. Now a year and a half out from the procedure, Teo isn’t missing out on a single thing because of pain. He enjoys biking and skiing with his sons, traveling for work is as seamless as ever, and sleeping through the night is no novelty. “It took 10 years off my knee,” Teo said.

Regenexx is committed to helping patients improve their quality of life, not wasting your time and money.
At the end of our discussion with Teo, he expressed gratitude for Regenexx’s transparency with this. He referred his wife to a consultation after his successful procedure, but our doctors determined she would not be a good candidate and recommended alternative treatment.
There’s a lot of pain treatment options out there right now, and it’s important to know which ones are legitimate and which ones will waste your time, your money, and may even cost you your health.
