Help for Blue Collar Pain

PRP Procedures Rescue New Age Blue-Collar Workers from Injury Blues

About 75% of Regenexx patients are hard-working Americans who spend lots of time on their feet. These new age blue-collar workers include small business owners and tradesmen such as plumbers, contractors, electricians, construction managers, and service technicians, to name a few. Regenexx patient, Jim, is no exception.

About Blue-Collar Business Owner and Regenexx Patient, Jim

KDKA news-radio sat down with Dr. Jesse Sally, Dr. Paul Leiber, and Regenexx patient Jim to discuss the results of several treatments he has received over the years. A 64-year-old HVAC business owner, Jim spends about 12-14 hours per day on his feet. You can imagine the mobility needed to be able to run a blue-collar business such as this: so much up and down movement, heavy lifting, bending over, kneeling, and of course being on the go constantly.

You can listen to the entire interview below [1]:

The Demands of Being a New Age Blue Collar Business Owner

About 4 years ago, the physical demands of Jim’s career started catching up with him and he found himself unable to get through his long days without experiencing pain. His feet, neck, and shoulders took the brunt of it, qualifying him for several different procedures with Regenexx over the years. Many new age blue-collar workers find themselves with similar aches and pains simply due to the constant movement and overexhaustion their jobs demand. Dr. Sally first diagnosed Jim with Plantar fasciitis (inflammation of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes) and later spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal canal).

For his foot pain,Jim was treated with his own platelet rich plasma (PRP). This treatment was administered to Jim right before a big two-week trip to Italy with his wife. He recalls feeling so much relief after treatment and having no issues walking all over the country, enjoying every minute of it without pain.

PRP Procedures as an Alternative to Surgery

Later down the road, Jim came back to Regenexx seeking treatment for his back and shoulders. A side effect of spinal stenosis is often Sciatica (pain radiating along the sciatic nerve, which runs down one or both legs from the lower back). He was also experiencing pain down his left bicep and across his chest. To treat these pain points, Dr. Sally again performed platelet rich plasma procedures. After three months, Jim said he felt completely pain-free.

“To be pain-free…it’s a miracle. I tell people, these PRP procedures are like a human super glue. It’s just amazing – it’s an alternative for surgery that would put you down for weeks without knowing the outcome.”

It’s true – many people experiencing recurring joint pain often opt into risky surgery with long recovery times, or steroid shots that wear off quickly, simply because they are unaware of the non-surgical regenerative options available to them through Regenexx physicians.

Jim is back to full mobility, unphased by 14 hour days on his feet. In fact, so impressed and satisfied with the outcomes of his treatment, Jim referred his wife, who was experiencing arthritis in her hands and bursitis in her hips. He says the Regenexx treatments she received helped ease her pain significantly as well.

Torn Achilles Sounds Scary, But May Not Need Surgery and a Boot

Torn Achilles Sounds Scary, But May Not Need Surgery and a Boot One small mistake – you made a sharp turn and flexed your ankle the wrong way, and now your Achilles tendon is ruptured. You might think you’re resigned to the fate of an invasive surgery and a boot or cast for the next couple months, but this might not be the case. So long as the Achilles tendon is not retracted (the ends of the tendon pull away from each other), it is likely that non-invasive, regenerative treatments like bone marrow concentrate containing your own live stem cells, or PRP could be able to help treat the tendon rupture. The Agony of De‘FEET’

Bunions, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, microfractures of the ankle bone – there’s a variety of painful problems that can occur in the feet. Considering this variety, it’s no surprise that so many American adults complain of pain in their feet. Unfortunately, many traditional treatments like surgery are a no-go – most Americans can’t afford to be off their feet for the long post-operative recovery time. Regenerative care, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments can be effective for many foot pains and may be a better option than surgery or steroids.
