Regenexx vs. Hip Surgery & Replacement

Hip pain can be life-altering. And while surgery is sometimes necessary, it’s not always the first—or only—option. Regenexx Pittsburgh offers a non-surgical alternative designed for those who want to explore less invasive options before committing to hip replacement or other surgical procedures.

Regenexx®

Hip Surgery

Regenexx is not a guaranteed alternative to surgery. Some patients may still require surgical treatment based on severity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Regenexx differ from cortisone or surgery?

The best way to find out is by completing our brief Candidate Form. Our medical team will review your information and imaging (if available) to determine if one of our procedures may be appropriate for your condition.

We commonly evaluate patients with arthritis, meniscus tears, ACL or MCL injuries, patellar tendinitis, and other orthopedic conditions. However, your eligibility depends on a number of factors, so a personal evaluation is key.

Some large self-funded employer plans do cover Regenexx procedures. Most traditional insurance plans do not at this time. We can help you understand your coverage options and provide clear pricing during your consultation.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is derived from your blood and is commonly used for milder injuries or early arthritis. Bone marrow concentrate is collected from your hip and may be recommended for more advanced or complex conditions. Your physician will guide you on the best approach based on your needs.

Regenexx uses bone marrow concentrate, which contains a variety of cells — including stem cells — that are naturally present in your body. These cells are not manipulated or expanded in a lab, and the procedure complies with current FDA guidelines.
