Sodium

We have all heard that too much salt is bad for us and that we should scale back our intake, however, it is often unknown to the general public that the majority of our salt intake (80%) comes from hidden salt found in many common processed foods.  Being aware of these foods and reading labels can help prevent your chance of having high blood pressure, which then can lead to heart disease, heart attacks and strokes.  For a healthy adult, the RDA for sodium is no more than 2,400 mg/day.  Research has shown that even a 10% decrease in salt intake could save 6,000 lives a year.  Here is a list of 25 surprisingly salty processed foods that you should watch out for.

NON-SURGICAL KNEE TREATMENT DONE RIGHT

Unfortunately, as the population ages, the prevalence of osteoarthritis increases. In 2020, 595 million people reported having osteoarthritis, which is a 132% increase since the year 1990 (1). The knee was the most common site for osteoarthritis among those surveyed. A population so afflicted by knee troubles should be informed on how best to treat them. This article poses non-surgical orthobiologic PRP or Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC) procedures over typical options given to patients–surgery or corticosteroid shots. If you’ve made the decision in favor of the less invasive non-surgical route, be educated and be warned. Unfortunately, not all non-surgical clinics are created equal. Read to learn about Regenexx’s procedure methods and the standards we uphold using knee treatment as an example.
